Winter Wedding at Brix & Mortar

I have loved the aesthetic of Brix & Mortar ever since I first started browsing through the wedding venue options in Vancouver. An intimate setting for sure, but a unique one. When S first reached out and began sharing the plans for her and H’s Vancouver wedding, I knew it was going to magical.

The moments in between -

The feedback I get the most, by far, when talking to couples about what they’re drawn to in my work is: “the candids”.

And I always delve a little further here, because there is a difference between a truly candid moment and the direction I give couples during the portraits to create a candid feeling..

As I was saying my good-byes at the end of this sweet wedding and thanking the newlyweds for trusting me with their day, they shared how they decided to reach out to me. S had gathered a few photographers and was sharing them with H. When they came to my work H told me he had said “It’s Allison. Book Allison.” because he felt anyone could take a nice photo in a beautiful setting with a beautiful couple, but what he wanted was someone who captured the “real moments, the special moments.”

(and I’m paraphrasing a little here because it was the end of the night and neither me or Brody can remember the exact verbiage, but this was the sentiment)
