Beautiful Spring Ceremony at Hycroft Manor
There are precious few venues in Vancouver, BC that I enjoy quite as much as Hycroft Manor (University Women’s Club of Vancouver). An Edwardian mansion and a photographers dream - every corner is a gorgeous setting.
While it wasn’t L & J’s first choice, I have to say I was happy to hear when it became the replacement venue..
*L & J’s story below*
When I told my second photographer about L & J, I was going on and on about how sweet they were but especially how suave J had been at their engagement session. An absolute natural in front of the camera.
You can imagine my surprise when I received a thank-you card from the newlyweds thanking me for making them look good despite their ‘awkwardness’. I didn’t see any awkward then, and I don’t see any when I look through their photos now.
Originally set to be at Stanley Park Teahouse (another lovely Vancouver venue) plans had to change when the bike lane additions were being made. Thus, the switch to Hycroft Manor.
Everything about L& J’s day was a labour of love. From the floral arrangements to the home-made macaroons, there was scarcely a detail L or J didn’t personally have a hand in. Even the wedding cake itself was made by L. And though their legal ceremony occurred during the pandemic restrictions, for their celebration with friends and family it was L’s brother who officiated.
In truth, my only regret is I’ll never see dad’s camcorder footage. From the sounds of the speeches, the man is probably an all-star with that thing.
